Aboriginal accounts recall dramatic storms and flooding that have caused deaths and changed the course of mighty waterways over millennia
The disastrous flooding wreaking human and environmental havoc on the east of the Australian continent is getting labelled as “unprecedented” and a once-in-a-generation or even in 1,000 years event.
A thousand years. A generation. It all constitutes a lot of time on this continent in the consciousness of Australian people who come from convict/settler/colonial – or later immigrant – stock.
